This 2023 visualization looks at the depth and intensity information of the 30 closest to the surface and 30 high intensity (7.5+) earthquakes that have occurred in last 25 years.
Since 1999, there have been 132 earthquakes with biggest ones being 2004 Indian Ocean earthquakes (9.1mW) and 2011 Japan earthquake (9.1 mww).
The earthquake closest to the surface occurred in Alaska in 2002, which happened at a depth of 4.2 km.
